As many of you know, our GM Zac has accepted a new job and is leaving JJ’s. While it is quite a bummer to have him leave us, we couldn’t be more proud of what he has accomplished in his time here. With the work ethic that he has, paired with the smarts he possesses, there is no limit to what he will be able to accomplish going forward. I’m grateful for the opportunity he and Tom gave me to join the crew here late last year, and even more so for taking me on full time recently. Zac’s new job adventure isn’t even the most exciting thing he has going on right now. Tomorrow, he’s getting married! I’d like to send all the well wishes to him and Kenadi, I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you folks.
With the Highland Games going on last weekend, the 3.0 Cocktail Bar was a bit busy, to say the least. One thing that was very evident is you guys enjoy Oktoberfest beers as you drank us out of Surly’s version and almost polished off a freshly tapped a ½ barrel of Ben’s by the end of the night Saturday. Because of this, we tapped three new versions of Oktoberfest. Give them a try and see which brewery you think did it best.
A big craze these days in New England style IPAs and I’m as guilty as any as getting caught up in the style. I do hear a lot of folks asking for an original west coast IPA with a big bite. If this is you, make sure to check out Stone Brewing’s Ruined Again Triple IPA. They aren’t quite at the 20th anniversary of Ruination, but I’m glad they didn’t wait any longer to release this bad boy. With the Vikings taking another drubbing on Sunday, I depleted most of my Brewing Projekt stash. From the way the game went, I think I’ll be drowning many sorrows on Sunday’s this year!
As Joe stated, Zac has a lot of big things coming up in his life and it wouldn’t be right of me to not give him my own shout-out! I want to thank Zac for everything he has done in this business for me. Some of you probably don’t know this but I was actually one of Zac’s first hires at JJ’s. I had no retail experience or sale experience whatsoever, but he gave me a shot. And it’s the greatest opportunity that has ever come across my path so far. I have learned so much under his wing and have taken what he has taught me and given that information to others. So Zac, if you are reading this, (I read all your whiskey Wednesday’s I hope you read the beer blog :P), I wish you good luck in your new position. I wish you and Kenadi all the best in your adventure of marriage and love. Whenever you need a drinking buddy don’t hesitate to hit me, Joe, Barry, or all three of us up. I am sure we will all come running.
As for beer, Joe took the cake. These Oktoberfest beers are killer good! Don’t take my word for it, stop in and try all of them. Then leave a comment on the blog letting us know what you think! We would love to hear from you guys.
Until Next Time…
October is right around the corner so get those outside projects finished up because before we know it the first snow will be hitting the ground. It’s South Dakota, what else would you expect?
Don’t forget, today is Fill It Friday! 30% off all growler fills and single cans and bottles of beer from the beer cooler. If you plan on bringing a growler, PLEASE RINSE IT OUT. We give you a new cap with every fill so just throw the old one away! We would greatly appreciate it, as would our noises.
Cheers and Beers,
Josh and Joe
