Appleton Estate 21 Year Old Rum
We thought that we would hit the ground running with this countdown to Christmas. It is Tiki Tuesday at JJ’s, so why not start with rum! And do we have a rum for you…
Appleton Estate 21 Year Old Rum is as divine as it gets for a 21 year old offering. Distilled using small-batch copper pot stills uniquely designed for Appleton Estate, this rum is a blend of several rums aged 21 years in American oak barrels. Once blended, the rum is re-casked for two years to marry the flavors.
Appleton Estate 21-year rum is produced in Jamaica on one of the country’s oldest and most renowned sugar estates. Each bottle is individually numbered and comes with a signed aging certificate by master blender Joy Spence.
- Preparation: None needed. Don’t let it get too cold.
- Glass: Double Old Fashioned or other wide mouth glass
- Cocktail Potential: Not on your life. This is a slow sipper. Enjoy neat.
- Available for Sale: Yes – JJ’s VIP Price – $119.99/bottle
Tom’s Tasting Note: The remarkable depth of this rum is stunning to me. My other favorite rum pour is Kirk & Sweeney 23 Year Old. Sipping on it now, along side the Appleton, and I am having a bit of a euphoric experience. The tropical, mixed with the dark, banana bread and cinnamon toast combination is mind blowing. You all know me, I love bourbon. But this stuff is as good as it gets.
This could go on my Christmas list! Nice start to the Spirited Holiday countdown!
Wow, this was fabulous. Unlike any other rum I’ve ever had (which to be honest has only consisted of Captain Morgan or similar in a mixed drink). Thanks for the sample. Can’t wait for day number 2!
Butterscotch on the nose. Not particularly a fan, but always interested in trying things I wouldn’t normally buy or drink.
Very drinkable standalone for a rum. Rich flavor, a healthy oakiness, and not nearly as sweet as most rums.
I. LOVE. RUM!!!
What a great way to start! My first smell I caught a hint of fresh tobacco then a bit of caramel which continued to the first taste. Thanks for putting this together. This is going to be a lot of fun!
I really enjoy rum, but this isn’t like any I’ve had. Toasty, rich, and sweet. This is on another level. If this is the start of this journey, I can’t wait for the rest.
I do like my Rum, but this 21 year has depth with a hint of vanilla in the finish Great start, looking forward to the next 24 days!
Bananas foster in a glass. Super tasty. 15cc just not enough. Thanks for the experience. I am looking forward to the next 24 days!
I do know where you can get another 750cc 😬
Spectacular.
What great richness and depth. Love the finish. And, I had so much fun trying to guess the type of spirit, brand/distillery, and ABV.
Advent is all about preparation, expectancy, and Hope… Happy Advent!
Banana Bread, Heavy Sugar (Molasses maybe), hits right in the middle of the tongue
