Frigate Reserve 21-Year-Old Rum

Frigate Reserve 21-Year-Old Rum

It’s Tiki Thursday! Rum is the answer. And today we have something a lot of you probably haven’t tried yet!

Frigate rums were introduced to us a few months back and it was agreed that they were pretty darn good. That being said, it took forever for the product to show up! But fortunately, they arrived just in time to make the 2022 Spirited Holiday Countdown Calendar!

Frigate is a product that was developed by a group of friends over fire. How often does that happen? Once Flip Pallot, Oliver White, Clint Kemp and Graham Hegamyer decided that they wanted to get in to the rum business they enlisted the help of the legendary Don Pancho Fernandez in Panama. Also known as “The Cuban Minister of Rum” Don Pancho Fernandez is responsible for a number of rums currently available in the rum world today.

The “Frigate” is a bird. Known as an omen of good fortune, it was an easy decision to include the bird on the label, to go along with the branding.

Tom’s Tasting Notes: This is another product that created a somewhat of a visceral reaction the first time I tried it. The intense aromas of caramel smack you in the face as you swirl this gem in your glass. I am taken to many different flavors that tickle my bourbon senses, but then there is a distinct note of tropical and tobacco in there too.  The palate is thick. Laden with caramel notes again, baking spices and banana. This is an outstanding product.
